🌄 Sober Outdoors Hike at the Paint Mines

📅 Saturday, April 26, 2025
🕙 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
📍 Paint Mines Interpretive Park, Calhan, CO
🎟️ FREE (Donations are highly encouraged & deeply appreciated!)

✨ You're Invited to Explore One of Colorado's Hidden Gems — Sober!

We’re heading out to Paint Mines Interpretive Park, one of Colorado’s most visually stunning and geologically unique spaces — and we’d love for you to join us!

From vibrant hoodoos to layers of vividly colored clay, this otherworldly trail system is packed with natural beauty and rich cultural history. The Paint Mines are named for their use by Indigenous peoples who collected the colorful clays for pottery and ceremonial paint. Today, the park is a protected and peaceful space, perfect for reflecting, connecting, and soaking in the wonder of nature — sober.

This guided community hike is completely free, but registration is required and spots tend to fill fast. Our last several events have reached capacity well in advance — if you’re interested, don’t wait to sign up!

💚 Why We Offer Free Events — and How You Can Help

At Sober Outdoors, we believe deeply that connection to nature and community shouldn’t come with a price tag — especially for people navigating recovery, rediscovering themselves, or seeking deeper meaning through the outdoors.

That’s why we keep our over 90% of our events 100% free to attend.

But creating these experiences isn't free for us. Every hike, camping trip, workshop, and group outing is made possible through the generous support of our community — and people like you.

If you’re in a position to give, we humbly and enthusiastically encourage you to donate in one of two ways:

  1. During event registration – just add a donation when you sign up!

  2. Right now, through our Giving Page: Give Here

Your contribution helps cover:

  • Permits and park fees

  • Safety and communication gear

  • Event materials

  • Insurance

  • Staff and volunteer coordination

  • Outreach to help others find this community

Even $5 makes a difference — and if you’re able to give more, your support helps keep this movement strong and growing.

💡 We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. All donations are tax-deductible. EIN: 99-1666001
